Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

8. How often should a machine be lubricated?

How often a machine needs lubrication depends on several factors: the machine and bearing type, load, operating speed, temperature and the environment (dust, water, chemicals). Machines running continuously or operating in contaminated environments typically require more frequent and more consistent lubrication than equipment running intermittently.

With manual lubrication, fixed service intervals are often used (for example weekly or monthly). In real-life conditions this can cause under-lubrication (too little/too late) or over-lubrication (too much). Both can increase wear, raise energy consumption and, in some cases, damage seals.

Automatic lubrication systems solve this by applying small, controlled amounts of lubricant continuously or at regular intervals. This keeps the lubricant film stable, improves protection of bearings and moving parts, and reduces the risk of unexpected downtime. Pomac can help define the right lubrication interval and the most suitable system for your application.
